Bedtime Books: September 2022

Have you read last week’s “Friday Flash” story yet? It’s only available for two more days, so if you haven’t, go read it now!

I’m still working on Gemma Weir’s Property of the Mountain Man…I pick it up, and put it down and forget I’m working on it for awhile (the danger of ebooks as opposed to print, I guess).

What’s the first “sexy” book you ever read? Mine was a Danielle Steel novel that I can’t even remember the name of, and I won’t admit to how young I was, but young enough that I probably shouldn’t have gotten a hold of it in the first place. Honestly, I skimmed most of the novel, because it was one of those 4-inch thick mass markets that was hard to hold, and mostly boring except for the sexy bits, which were absolutely *scandalous* (I grew up in a very conservative home). Compared to what I read (and write) now, it was probably much tamer than I remember, but it was definitely a hearty taste of “adult life”.

Then when I was in high school, I house sat at a place that had old books on the shelves, which I’ve always loved. And there in the bedroom, an old copy of Lady Chatterley’s Lover by D.H. Lawrence. That was pretty exciting too, in a fun-with-language way (and of course rather thought-provoking as well). If you haven’t read it yet, I’d highly recommend picking up a copy.

I want to know – which book first “popped your literary cherry”? Comment below, on Facebook or Twitter, or email me and let me know!
